About Neptune Grouper 7-8" (Cephalopholis igarashiensis)
The Neptune Grouper, also known as the Coral Hind Grouper, is a bold and highly sought-after marine predator admired for its intense red-orange body covered in vibrant electric blue spots. Native to Indo-Pacific coral reefs, this species can grow to an adult size of 16–18 inches and requires a large saltwater aquarium (180+ gallons recommended) with ample rockwork for shelter.
This carnivorous grouper thrives on a protein-rich diet of shrimp, squid, fish flesh, and high-quality frozen or prepared foods. The Neptune Grouper has a semi-aggressive to aggressive temperament, making it best suited for fish-only or FOWLR systems with other large, durable tank mates. It is not reef safe and may prey on smaller fish and invertebrates.
Hardy once established and visually striking, the Neptune Grouper is ideal for advanced marine aquarists seeking a dramatic centerpiece fish for large predator aquariums.
