About Emperor Agnel 12-13" (Pomacanthus imperator)
The adult Emperor Angelfish, also known as the Imperator Angelfish, showcases a vivid blue body accented with bright yellow horizontal stripes, ending in a caudal fin that ranges from bright yellow to orange.
Juveniles have a black body with circular white and blue stripes that originate at the tail. During its transformation from juvenile to adult, the Emperor Angelfish undergoes significant changes in coloration and pattern.
For housing, the Emperor Angelfish needs a tank of at least 250 gallons with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding. They thrive in environments with extensive rock structures and deep caves for security. As with other angels, the emperor angel is prone to nipping at stony corals and clams and so, caution is required if adding to a reef aquarium.
Their diet should consist of Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty foods.
